Gates value point: Gatron™
Gates uses a proprietary material called Gatron in many of its Acid-Chemical hose. A blend of rigid cross-linked Polyethylene (XLPE) and a number of other polymers and additives, Gatron offers excellent resistance to a variety of acids and chemicals, while providing much better flexibility, higher temperature compatibility, improved coupling seal, and better resistance to coupling "spinning" in high temperature applications or cleaning operations when compared to competitive XLPE products.

Gatron is the tube material used in Mustang, Mustang CR, and Appaloosa. It is also used as a "back-up" tube for the FEP and UHMWPE liners in the Stallion, Stallion CR, and Renegade. This extra Gatron layer provides a safety factor in the event of a liner tear in the hose, and also adds to hose performance capabilities.

Gatron is a major reason why Gates Acid-Chemical hoses are recognized as the premier line in the industry.

WARNING: A failure of chemical hose in service can result in injury to personnel or damage to property. All chemical hose manufacturers recommend specific tube formulations to handle various chemicals.

Do not use chemical hose at temperatures or pressures above those recommended by the manufacturer. All operators must be thoroughly trained in the care and use of this hose and must at all times wear protective clothing. A hose or system failure could cause the release of a poisonous, corrosive, or flammable material.
