Steam, because of it's aggressive nature, requires an extremely tough gasket material
to seal properly. Steam often works it's way past standard gaskets, etching flange faces and causing leaks that
create potentially dangerous hazards as well as the loss of expensive de-ionized water. Until now, those leaks were either overlooked,
or the steam line was shut down for flange replacement or resurfacing, both costly solutions.
Now there's a better way - simply install a Gore-Tex insertable gasket. On compression,
the unique sealing bulb flows into the steam cut and becomes a hard, permanent gasket, sealing the flange for good.
Outstanding Versatility Gore-Tex Insertable Gaskets withstand temperatures from -450° to +600°F (-268° to +315°C), seal internal pressures up to 3,000 psi (200 bar) (1,800,000 P x T factor), and are unaffected by most chemicals (except molten alkali metals and elemental fluorine). It's ideal for cryogenic applications and is FDA/USDA suitable for use in food processing and pharmaceutical industries. You can use it just about anywhere. And it lasts indefinitely, when used within its operating parameters. It is non-contaminating and non-aging. Gore-Tex expanded PTFE makes the difference. Its highly fibrillated structure contains millions of fibrils that give unique characteristics to all gasketing products made from Gore-Tex expanded PTFE. On compression, the fibrils lock together, forming a solid homogeneous mass that is impervious to gases and liquids. Gore-Tex expanded PTFE is flexible and stable under high temperatures, and maintains its high tensile strength. It is incredibly resistant to creep, providing an extremely tight seal for controlling fugitive emissions. No other form of PTFE is made this way or exhibits these characteristics.
