Gore-Tex expanded PTFE makes the difference. Its highly fibrillated structure contains millions of fibrils that give unique characteristics to all gasketing products made from Gore-Tex expanded PTFE. On compression, the fibrils lock together, forming a solid homogeneous mass that is impervious to gases and liquids. Gore-Tex expanded PTFE is flexible and stable under high temperatures, and maintains its high tensile strength. It is incredibly resistant to creep, providing an extremely tight seal for controlling fugitive emissions.
No other form of PTFE is made this way or exhibits these characteristics.
